Having My Voice, In A Healthy Space

We are thrilled to announce that we have received £50,000 in funding from Phoenix Way to deliver the "Having Your Voice, In A Healthy Space" project. This initiative will support Black and racially minoritised teenage girls aged 11-14 who are at high risk of becoming involved in serious violence.
The project's goal is to prevent or reduce violence in their communities and personal lives by fostering safe and healthy environments where the girls can be empowered to express their ideas, opinions, and concerns.
In collaboration with My Wellbeing Space (MWS), the Safer Neighbourhood Team, Oasis Academy Hadley School, and Oasis Academy Community Hub, we aim to provide education and resources that address the root causes of violence. Together, we envision establishing trusted spaces that build the girls’ confidence, equipping us to support them more effectively.
Running from 2024 to 2025, this year-long programme consists of seven distinct projects and campaigns. Each participant will be paired with a mentor who will tailor the programme to their unique needs and aspirations, ensuring personalised and meaningful support.
The programme includes the following initiatives: Youth Voice Group, Police Engagement Initiative, Mentoring, Sexual Harassment Campaign, Summer Fitness Camp, Leadership Programme and AQA Accreditation.
Through this project, we are committed to empowering young girls to lead safer, healthier, and more confident lives.

Keeping Our Children and Young People Safe
At My Wellbeing Space (MWS), we are dedicated to ensuring that every child has the right to equal protection. We have implemented comprehensive processes to keep our children and young people safe:
Designated Safeguard Lead: Our Qualified Safeguard Lead acts as the central point of contact for any child protection matters, overseeing all safeguarding concerns at MWS.
Policies and Procedures: Governed by Enfield Voluntary Action 2023, our policies and procedures for children, young people, and vulnerable adults are regularly reviewed and updated annually to ensure the highest standards of safety.
Referral Partners: Our partners, Oasis Academy Hadley School, Oasis Academy Community Hub, and The Safer Neighbourhood Team have dedicated safeguarding teams and robust child protection policies and procedures in place.
Parental Collaboration: We work closely with parents/guardians to ensure the safety of their children.
Supervision Ratios: We ensure appropriate supervision ratios during activities, enabling staff to effectively manage associated risks and safeguard the students.
Enhanced DBS Certificates: All partners, staff, sessional workers, volunteers, and anyone coming into contact with the students are required to present up-to-date Enhanced DBS certificates.
Dedicated Advocacy Team: We have a dedicated team of advocates, including mentors, support workers, wellbeing professionals, and specialist workers, to support the girls in this programme.

Summer Fitness Camp

This summer 2024, My Wellbeing Space and The Youth & Family Hub partnered to create a transformative experience for the youth of Enfield. Through our collaboration, we launched a Summer Fitness Camp specifically for members of the Enfield Youth Centres.
The initiative, funded by the Phoenix Way Fund and The Youth & Family Hub, was developed as a community-focused project to provide a safe and supportive environment for young people during the summer holidays.
The programme was not just about fitness, it’s a holistic programme which was aimed at keeping young girls off the streets and actively involved in positive, healthy activities that nurture both their physical and mental wellbeing.
Through a combination of fitness training, mindfulness practices, and creative workshops the camp was successful in creating a environment where the girls could thrive. The programme also fostered a sense of community, encouraging participants to build lasting friendships, develop self-confidence, and adopt a healthy more positive lifestyle.
The Summer Fitness Camp had over 100 beneficiaries reaping the rewards. Directly, the camp empowered young people with healthy activities and a positive environment. Indirectly, it provided parents with peace of mind, knowing their children were in a safe, engaging space, allowing them a much-needed respite.
